LIFE IS LIVING:
"AFRICA IN OAKLAND" DANCE ZONE
will feature master teachers and drummers playing rhythms from Africa and its diaspora to support the all day dance classes which are FREE to the community! Through classes and a special performance, this
year's "Africa in Oakland" highlights the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, its teachers and residing dance companies, its cultural presence within the tapestry of our community, and its use as a central tool for the self-preservation and life of dancers and non-dancers alike, in Oakland, CA.

To celebrate the closing of the exhibition
"Radical Presence", SKIN World Wide and YBCA present "Radical Ancestry", a dance floor journey through sound, art, tradition, and folklore.
We invite you to this gorgeous, visceral celebration that weaves through the African and Latin-American diasporas. Featuring a mixture of live performances, dance, visual art, and DJ’s, we pay homage to our common bonds of ancestry and rhythm.

Rara Tou Limen (RTL) cordially invites the community to join us as we celebrate the Gede Spirits + our Ancestors through DANCE, MUSIC, FOOD and SONG!

Fet Gede is a national holiday in Haiti that honors and revitalizes Ancestral Spirits. The Gede's, entities of LIFE and DEATH embrace the creation and conclusion of LIFE and represent a crucial link to the 
Ancestors. Gede teaches us to Laugh, Love and Live!

FET WEAR: Show us your "BEST" Gede/Day of the Dead "FIT"! Let your creativity run wild....Please wear Purple, Black and White, the traditional colors for Gede.

 An altar will be present. If you would like to make an offering (photos of loved ones, flowers, candles, alcohol, fruit, florida water, etc.) please feel free to do so.
